Hello! My name is Mariejose Fichtner, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I
received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Ethnic Studies from University of California, San Diego
and my Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from California Baptist University. I have
over 10 years of experience in the field of mental health where I’ve worked with several diverse
communities and issues that include: grief, family conflict, trauma, mild to severe mental health
symptoms, parenting, immigration, phase of life changes, pregnancy and postpartum, anger
management, dual diagnosis, crisis intervention, and everyday life stressors. My therapeutic
approach is one that is collaborative with the client. I utilize different treatment modalities that
include solution focused therapy, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy,
mindfulness, and systems therapy. I believe that no one is defined by their mental health
symptoms or by the painful situations or experiences they have lived or are currently
experiencing. Rather, I believe individuals are defined by their resilience, their work, and their
hopes of something better. True strength comes from the ability to look inward, to recognize, and
accept help when navigating through the many challenges of life. My commitment as a therapist
is to help you and see you through this process.

There may be times where we feel like we need someone who can lend a listening ear. It is important to realize when we need to reach out to that someone. You have taken the first step in finding a therapist! As a therapist, my job is to help you find ways to let go of that anxiety, stress, or pressure that you face. I am here to provide a safe environment for you in which you are heard and are respected. Together, we will work to explore and process your deeper emotions while allowing the expansion of feelings and identify anything that is holding you back from achieving your empowered higher self. With clients, I primarily use the integrative psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and person-centered approach. I also use the solution focused brief approach to focus on emotions, feelings, and perspectives. I specialize in multiple areas and enjoy working with multicultural clients. Being a Pakistani/American therapist, I understand and acknowledge the impact of cultural differences within relationships and lifestyles. My goal is to work with my clients on their journey to find a healthy balance between culture and their needs.
